'(25 Oct 2013) RICHIE HOSTS FASHION EVENT, ZOE DEFENDS CELEBRETY DESIGNERS Socialite turned fashion designer Nicole Richie hosted a fashion event celebrating the 50 most stylish stars of 2013 by trend website Who What Wear. Nicole Richie wore a black beaded dress by Dilek Hanif, black leather pants and a lace cat ears by Maison Michel. The fashionista was feeling sick, but made sure to attend the party to support her friends. \"I\'m so honored to be the host,\" said Richie. \"I\'ve had a close relationship with Who What Wear for a while. It\'s going to be a great night. I\'m really excited to be here.\" Richie\'s friend and famed celebrity stylist Rachel Zoe also wore all black to the event. Before rushing inside the party, Zoe expressed how she felt about the slew of celebrities that have crossed into the world of fashion as designers. \"Yes, I do because I think that there\'s a lot of talented people and I think celebrities or otherwise, if you have the talent and you want to be a designer, do it. Go for it, support it. I don\'t think you should get a stigma attached to you because you happen to be famous. I think, it\'s going to work, it\'s going to work if you are famous or you\'re not famous. At the end of the day the product speaks for itself. So if the product isn\'t right then you don\'t succeed and if it\'s great it doesn\'t matter if you\'re a celebrity or not.\" Who What Wear Founder Katherine Power agreed with Zoe\'s stance. Before launching this popular fashion website, she was one of the editors of Elle Magazine. \"I think we have too many great celebrities who become fashion designers at this point,\" said Power. \"The Olsen twins being on the top. They are legitimately designers recognized by the top people in the fashion industry. Someone like Victoria Beckham who is a huge celebrity but she also has a really great line that\'s very thoughtfully designed and well-made. I think that right now we have a lot of strong lines and I think that the idea of also being able to buy something that celebrities love or have created in a Target or a Bloomingdales allows people to have access to that kind of style no matter where you live and I think that\'s fantastic.\" Aside from styling, Rachel Zoe also has her own clothing line. However lately she\'s been mostly focused on her son Skylar, her work and getting things ready for baby number two. While Zoe wore a plain black dress, her main accessory was the baby bump. \"I\'m just trying to get through this week and next and then I plan to go into hibernation for a bit,\" she said. Actresses Jessica Alba, Cara Santana and Erinn Westbrook were also in attendance.
